Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow region – The Russian Energy Ministry and Gazprom are maintaining permanent contact with their European partners in an attempt to resolve the problem of gas supplies to Ukraine, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

“Of course, there is permanent contact. There is an official communication mechanism there, which in such situations certainly involves what the president said about,” Peskov said.

The consultations and gas supplies to Ukraine are things not depending on each other, Peskov said. “The matter is only about routine supplies so far,” he said.

Asked whether Ukraine has proposed holding trilateral consultations, Peskov replied: “Consultations are one thing and supplies are another.”

“There is a sum which has been paid and which is expiring. This is what the president spoke about,” he said.
