You're reading: Gazprom invites Ukraine to the ceremony for start of South Stream’s construction

Moscow, (Interfax) - Gas giant Gazprom has invited its Ukrainian colleagues to the ceremony for the start of the South Stream pipeline's construction, the Russian company said.

A working meeting took place on March 15 between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Ukrainian Energy and Coal Minister Yuriy Boiko. Russia and Ukraine’s partnership in the gas sector was discussed.

When asked by journalists whether South Stream had been discussed during negotiations with Ukraine, Miller said: "Yes, it has been discussed. We invited Ukraine’s energy ministry and Naftogaz Ukrainy’s management to the ceremony for the start of South Stream’s construction in December of this year in the Krasnodar Territory."
