Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has received an invitation to the UEFA Euro 2012 Final in Kyiv, presidential spokesman Pavel Lyogky told Interfax.

“The president has been invited to Kyiv. Those who are concerned very much about Alexander Lukashenko’s presence or absence at the match, I advised them to switch on their TV sets on Sunday and receive an answer to their question,” he said.

Belarusian Ambassador to Kyiv Valentin Velichko said earlier that Lukashenko would pay a working visit to Kyiv on Sunday, July 1.

“The [Belarusian] head of state will make a visit on July 1, and there will be a meeting with Viktor Fedorovych [Yanukovych, the president of Ukraine],” Velichko said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He said Lukashenko and Yanukovych would discuss bilateral cooperation and the Belarusian leader would attend the Euro 2012 Final in Kyiv.
