MOSCOW - A suit has been filed in Moscow's Kuntsevsky Court by a Novosibirsk woman seeking 30,000 rubles from Pussy Riot as compensation for moral damage.

“Irina Ruzankina’s lawsuit has been handed over to the judge, who is
due to decide upon it in the very near future,” court spokeswoman
Tatyana Danshova told Interfax.

It was reported earlier that Ruzankina filed suit with a Novosibirsk
court, seeking compensation for the offensive stunt by Pussy Riot.

In her claim, she stated that the actions of Nadezhda Tolokonnikova,
Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterian Samutsevich offended her feelings.
According to her claim, she learned of Pussy Riot’s performance from the
mass media and the band’s video posted on the Internet.

“Ruzankina said that she is a believer, she adheres to church rules,
which is why the violation of religious canons constitutes the
inflicting of damage to the sacred values of the Christian service and
an encroachment on the sacraments of church,” Danshova said.

As a consequence, Ruzankova has asked the court to compel the young
women to pay her 30,000 rubles as compensation for moral damage, the
court spokesperson added.
