MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Francois Hollande have shown satisfaction with how the Mistral helicopter carriers issue was solved.

‘They showed satisfaction over the settlement of the Mistral issue; moreover, they are satisfied with the fact that the settlement met the interests of all parties concerned,’ Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists in the wake of the Normandy format summit in Paris and a meeting between the Russian and French presidents that preceded it.

The two presidents ‘also expressed hope that the spirit of interaction and partnership that dominated during the resolution of the Mistral problem will accompany the resolution of other issues that are on the bilateral agenda,’ he said.

‘Much time was dedicated in the conversation to Syrian affairs,’ Peskov said.

The presidents ‘expressed sorrow over the decrease in bilateral trade in the past quarter,’ he said.
