MOSCOW - Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's federal veterinary and phytosanitary oversight service, is banning food imports from several companies in Australia, Spain and China on September 9.

The watchdog’s press office said the ban would apply to beef from
Australia’s JBS Australia Pty Ltd., where mesophilic anerobic and
facultative anerobic microorganisms have been discovered. A consignment
of pork from Frecarn S.A. in Spain was found to be contaminated by
listeria and frozen mussels from China’s Rizhao Longxing with E-coli.

Temporary restrictions on imports were imposed as all these cases were repeat violations.

Also, E.-coli was discovered in shrimps produced by India’s M/s
Coastal Corporation Ltd, beef from Suc. Carlos Schneck S.A. in Uruguay,
surimi from India’s M/s Kan Foods; mesophilic anerobic and facultative
anerobic microorganisms in edible snails from France’s Sarl Grandjean
and refrigerated beef from Idt Din Bardar in Moldova. Pork from Spain’s
S.A.T. 1269 R.L. Fribin, beef subproducts from Argentina’s Mattievich
S.A. and poultry from Ukraine’s Mironovsky Poultry House was
contaminated with listeria. These are first offenses so the Russian
watchdog is keeping the enterprises under surveillance for now.
