Astana - The Ukrainian conflict can be resolved solely via negotiations, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

“We sincerely urge all conflict parties to sit at the negotiating table and to find a mutually acceptable solution based on trustworthy and open dialogue to stop bloodshed,” Nazarbayev said at an expanded governmental meeting in Astana on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

“I think that no other reasonable alternative exists. I am urging all parties. I am getting involved and will do everything possible, to the extent of my abilities,” the president said.

“As it is known, Ukraine is a participant of the free trade zone in the CIS. We are connected with this country and the Ukrainian people with many human and financial ties, trade contacts, human destinies. All this causes serious concern among Kazakh people and we empathize with tragedies of ordinary people, which occur in Ukraine now,” Nazarbayev said.
