EuroMaidan activist died of pneumonia which he supposedly got after police used water cannon on the protesters.

The activist and businessman from Kolomiya Bogdan Kalynyak died at the hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk on Jan. 28. Kolomiya mayor Igor Sluzar said the man got pneumonia during the clashes on Hrushevskoho street in Kiev where police used water cannons on the protesters despite the freezing weather.

Kalynyak spent two months at the EuroMaidan rally in Kyiv, making short trips home to Kolomiya. Lately activist was helping the wounded protesters at the Independence Square in Kyiv.

“When we first met on Maidan, I was really impressed. He was always so balanced,” Sluzar told segodnya.ua. According to the mayor, the activist tried to cure himself at the protesters’ camp instead of going to the hospital from the very first days of the disease.
