You're reading: Almost 850,000 people moved from eastern Ukraine to other regions

A total of 855,017 people have been resettled to Ukrainian regions, including 834,415 from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, by the Interdepartmental Coordination Staff and regional staffs, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service press service reported.

In addition, 20,603 persons have moved to Ukrainian regions from Crimea and Sevastopol.

“Most internally displaced persons have taken up residence in the Luhansk region (174,970), the Kharkiv region (168,199), the Donetsk region (107,976), the Dnipropetrovsk region (83,988), the Zaporizhia region (62,223), the Kyiv region (39,444) and the city of Kyiv (39,047),” the report said.

According to the State Emergency Service, the Zhytomyr, Volyn, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytsky regions can take in the largest number of re-settlers at present. In turn, the Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn and Khmelnitsky regions and the city of Kyiv can admit ailing re-settlers to their hospitals. The Transcarpathian, Rivne, Ternopil and Kyiv regions are ready to accommodate persons with disabilities and senior citizens, the Service said.
