A heavy transport plane An-225 Mriya (bearing capacity 250 tonnes) owned by Antonov Airlines on Friday brought to Japan humanitarian cargo, generators, and equipment weighing a total of 140 tonnes, the press service for the state-run enterprise Antonov has reported.

The plane landed at the airport Narita (Tokyo), the press service has reported.

The An-225 Mriya has taken part in many humanitarian operations, the press service has reported. In October 2009, the An-225 made several flights to deliver generators to Samoa to restore a Samoan electric power station damaged by a tsunami.

In February 2010, the plane carried heavy construction equipment to the quake-stricken Haiti.

The An-225 Mriya is intended for delivering heavy long cargo to any point of the globe.
