A positive assessment of reforms in Ukraine by the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) gives grounds to hope for further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
“Naturally, this is what I hope for (the continuation of cooperation with the IMF). My latest negotiations, as well as my assistants’ talks with the IMF management and experts have shown the main thing – we have an understanding in this matter,” the prime minister said in an interview with Euronews, excerpts of which were published on the Cabinet’s Web site on Saturday.
According to Azarov, the IMF experts said that most of the parameters of the program are being complied with. “The budget deficit is within the boundaries set by our agreement with the IMF, all of our fiscal indicators are within the limits,” the prime minister said adding that Ukraine has confirmed its creditworthiness, while maintaining a good economic growth rate.
“All these positive things that have accumulated in recent years give us grounds to be optimistic about the possibility to continue our cooperation with the IMF,” the prime minister said.
