You're reading: Bad weather causes blackouts in 138 towns and villages in Ukraine

A total of 138 towns and villages in four regions of Ukraine were left without electricity as a result of bad weather (heavy rains) on the night of 24th/25th August of 2012, the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry's press service reported on Saturday.

Bad weather caused blackouts in the early hours of Saturday in 51 towns and villages in Volyn region, 44 in Zhytomyr region, 41 in Kyiv region and two in Chernihiv region.

Power crews are restoring electricity supplies in the regions.

In addition, in Manevychi and Kovel districts of Volyn region roofs of 52 houses were damaged due to bad weather.
