The Cabinet of Ministers has suspended the powers of State Aviation Service Chief Denys Antoniuk for the duration of the ongoing investigation into his office.

The respective resolution No. 658 of July 1 was posted on the government’s website on July 2.

As reported, on June 26 head of Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili attended a meeting of the commission of the Infrastructure Ministry on flight assignments. He demanded that the State Aviation Service should distribute assignments for flights on a competitive basis. He accused the head of the service of being biased during the distribution of the assignments and said that he would demand the dismissal of the commission by the infrastructure minister.

Subsequently, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that Antoniuk will be suspended for the duration of the investigation.
