Observers from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) continue registering ceasefire breaches in the area of the Donetsk airport and in Shyrokyne.

Michael Bociurkiw, spokesman for the OSCE SMM, said at a briefing in Kyiv on April 9 that the OSCE SMM continues monitoring the Minsk agreements but the monitoring efforts were restricted by the conflict parties’ actions last week.

Bociurkiw said OSCE observers registered several ceasefire breaches in the past 24 hours, especially in the Donetsk airport area, and mortar attacks and shootouts were registered in the Shyrokyne area.

Bociurkiw said Alexander Hug, deputy head of the OSCE SMM, is going to Shyrokyne from Mariupol today to call for the sides to continue moving their forces apart in the Shyrokyne area and to demilitarize the village and the nearby areas.

No ceasefire breaches have been registered in Luhansk Oblast, Bociurkiw said.

Bociurkiw said OSCE observers are still having problems with access to some weapons withdrawal locations, adding that the OSCE SMM continues to call on the sides to grant its observers full and unlimited access.
