The decision to send an EU mission to Ukraine as part of the Common Security and Defense Policy could be made in the near future, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

“If such a final decision is made at the next meeting of the EU
Council, then this assistance could really be provided to Ukraine in
June,” the director of the ministry’s department for the European Union,
Vsevolod Chentsov, said.

He said that the initiators for sending such a mission to Ukraine were the United Kingdom, Poland and Sweden.

“This is a civilian mission that will help strengthen the
possibilities of law enforcement agencies and the security sector,” he
said.
