Heads of the European Parliament mission to Ukraine - former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski – have visited Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 of Ukrzaliznytsia in Kharkiv, where former prime minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is treated.

This is a third visit of the European Parliament mission members to Ukraine over the past 30 days. Earlier they arrived at the end of May and in the middle of June.

Before their visit to the hospital they and Jan Granat, Polish Consul General in Ukraine, laid flowers near the Independence memorial.

As reported, the European Parliament mission to Ukraine headed by Cox and Kwasniewski started monitoring court proceedings involving Tymoshenko on June 11, 2012 under an agreement between Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and European Parliament President Martin Schulz.

Their mandate was subsequently expanded to include the court proceedings involving former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and former Acting Defense Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Ivaschenko.

On April 18, the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament heard the report of the Cox-Kwasniewski mission and decided to extend the mission through September 2013.
