The Russian presidential decree on the measures rehabilitating the peoples of Crimea involves an instruction to the Russian government to assist in the creation and development of national cultural autonomies. The decree rehabilitating the Armenian, Bulgarian, Greek, Crimean Tatar and German peoples has been posted on the official legal news portal.

In particular, the Russian government has been instructed to “assist in the creation and development of national cultural autonomies, other public associations and organizations of the Armenian, Bulgarian, Greek, Crimean Tatar and German peoples, the provision of basic secondary education for the Russians in the languages of these people, the development of traditional trades and forms of business, and in resolving other matters concerning the socioeconomic development of these peoples.”

To restore historical justice and counter the effects of the illegal deportation of these peoples from the territory of the Soviet Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Cabinet has been instructed to adopt a set of measures on the political, social and spiritual revival of these peoples.

The government has also been instructed to provide assistance to the authorities in Crimea and Sevastopol in conducting the events on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of these people’s deportation, according to the decree.
