Simferopol – The parliament of Crimea has nationalized the Ukrainian telecommunications company Vega, which is a structure of the company System Capital Management controlled by Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov. An appropriate decision was made by the State Council of Crimea.

The company Vega entered the Ukrainian telecommunications market in 2008. It provided landline phone communication services, broadband Internet access and data transmission services to its clients.

“This company illegally placed its networks in municipal residential buildings, thus breaking supporting structures. There is currently no guarantee that the data transmitted via this network will be duly protected and will not fall into the hands of a third party. This jeopardizes the security of the personal data of residents of the Republic of Crimea,” the explanatory note attached to the decree on the nationalization of Vega property adopted by the Crimean parliament.
