You're reading: Decree on parliament dissolution published in official bulletin, election campaign begins on Aug. 28

The campaign for early parliamentary elections in Ukraine will start on Thursday, August 28. 

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter has learned that a decree by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada was published in the official bulletin of the Ukrainian president on Aug. 27.

Thus, the decree is considered officially published and enters into force on August 28.

Earlier, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mykhailo Okhendovsky said that in accordance with the law on parliamentary elections in Ukraine, the process of early elections of deputies starts on the day following the day of publication of the presidential decree on the parliament dissolution.

According to the law, the nomination of candidates for MPs begins from the first day of the election process, i.e. as early as Aug. 28.
