You're reading: E-petition to appoint Tymoshenko as Ukraine’s ambassador to Honduras gains enough supporters to be reviewed by authorities

The electronic petition requesting to appoint Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Batkivschyna party, as Ukraine's ambassador to Honduras, which was published on the official website of the Ukrainian president, has received more than 25,000 votes already, the necessary number of votes for an electronic petition to be formally reviewed.

For the time being, the initiative is supported by 25,113 people, according to the webpage that contains the petition.

“Considering a large managerial experience and necessary expertise possessed by Yulia Timoshenko, we hereby petition you to appoint her as Ambassador to Honduras,” the petition says.

The petition’s status is “pending review”. The collection of votes started on Sept. 15.

The Ukrainian law on electronic petitions states that every petition submitted to the Ukrainian president, Verkhovna Rada or Cabinet of Ministers must be supported by 25,000 people within three months of the day of the petition’s official publication.

Once the petition has attracted the minimal required number of supporters, it is to be reviewed within 10 working days of the day when the notice was published saying that the review is started.

A petition is reviewed as a public appeal under the Ukrainian law “On public appeals” if it fails to accumulate the required number of votes within the established time.

The ‘petitions’ section on the Ukrainian president’s website started to function late this August.
