DONETSK. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The defense ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) says it would start withdrawing weapons smaller than 100mm in caliber after October 18, on condition that a ceasefire is observed by that date.

‘This will be after the October 18 on the condition that it’s quiet here, after the OSCE mission makes a statement that the quiet regime lasted for 48 hours,’ Eduard Basurin of the DPR defense ministry told journalists on Saturday.

The DPR plans to conduct local elections on October 18, which neither Kyiv nor Western countries are going to recognize.

The self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) had said earlier that it had started withdrawing weapons smaller than 100mm in caliber on Saturday.

Ukrainian presidential office spokesman Andriy Lysenko had also said earlier on Saturday that the government forces had started withdrawing weapons smaller than 100mm from the contact line.
