Ukrainian Procurator General Viktor Pshonka has said that one of his predecessors, Sviatoslav Piskun, could face criminal liability for the closure of a criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation during her premiership in 2005.
"Yes, it is true… If there is an indictment against Tymoshenko concerning the illegal closure by Piskun of a criminal case, it will be possible to say that he will face procedural discomfort, but it all depends on the decision that will be taken by court on this case," he said in an interview with the Focus magazine, which was published on Friday.
"With regard to the UESU case: it was illegally closed at the stage of investigation. [Former] Prosecutor General Sviatoslav Piskun stamped and signed the document, agreeing with the decision," Pshonka said.
