You're reading: People injured in confrontations near Rada still in hospital

Thirty-five law enforcement officers injured in the Aug. 31 confrontations in the center of Kyiv are staying in city hospitals.

As of Sept. 2 morning, 29 servicemen of the National Guard and Interior Ministry officers were receiving treatment at the 17th hospital. One patient injured in his stomach is in an intensive care unit, his condition is serious but stable, a source in the healthcare department of the Kyiv city state administration told Interfax.

Eleven patients have been transferred from the 17th hospital to Interior Ministry clinics in the Chernihiv and Cherkassy oblasts.

Six patients are being treated by the Oleksandrivska City Clinical Hospital. A French journalist has been discharged.

The presidential draft law introducing decentralization amendments to the Ukrainian constitution passed the first reading by 265 votes at the Verkhovna Rada on Aug. 31.

Opponents of the bill clashed with the police near the parliament building. A conscript of the Ukrainian National Guard was killed in those clashes and an exploding grenade was hurled at the police lines. More than 140 police officers and civilians, including media workers, were injured.
