Head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Artem Sytnyk has appointed former Georgian prosecution agency official Gizo Ugulava as First Deputy Head of the bureau.

Sytnyk said at a briefing in Kyiv on April 28 that he would have only two deputies, most likely Ukrainians.

In turn Ugulava discussed his professional experience and said that working in Ukraine was a great honor for him.

“For a long time I have been working for the Georgian prosecution system, too long as a criminal investigator and as chief of an investigation department. I was also a regional prosecutor in West Georgia – the Adjar Autonomous Republic, I was Deputy Prosecution General. All my work was connected with units responsible for investigations into corruption,” Ugulava said.

“We promise the people to work [against] and fight corruption,” Ugulava said, adding that there would be no mercy for corrupt individuals.
