Kyiv, August 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The executive director of Cascade-Medical trade house LLC, the exclusive representative of Heel (Germany) in Ukraine, in July 2013 for the production of counterfeit drugs was sentenced to four years in prison with the confiscation of counterfeit medicines, raw materials and equipment for their production, according to the State Administration of Ukraine on Medicinal Products.
As reported, in late May the service stopped the activities of Cascade-Medical in connection with allegations of fraud in medicine. The basis for this decision was the discovery of non-packaged and non-registered medicines labeled in German and Ukrainian languages on the territory of Cascade-Medical. The packaging did not contain serial numbers and expiration dates, there were no instructions, and there was equipment for the production of packaging and labeling medicines on the territory of the enterprise.
The amount of drugs found during the inspection was 3.9 million packages worth about UAH 300 million.
The State Administration of Ukraine on Medicinal Products temporarily banned and removed from circulation all series of 68 kinds of medicines marked by Biologische Heilmittel Heel GmbH (Germany) on suspicion of fraud.
