Head of the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE in Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan called on the parties to the conflict in eastern Ukraine for an observation of the ceasefire from Sept. 1.

“The three-party contact group on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine called (last week in Minsk) for a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire starting from the first day of this academic year. We are urging all the parties to hear this call and establish a complete and comprehensive regime of ceasefire,” the OSCE press service cited Apakan as saying on Sept. 1.

He emphasized the importance of the ceasefire regime, particularly along the contact line.
