SENKIVKA, Chernihiv Oblast - Hr 160 million has been spent on the implementation of the European Wall project to arrange the Ukrainian-Russian border, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has reported.

“A total of Hr 160 million has been spent, which Ukraine received as technical assistance,” he told reporters during his visit to the Senkivka international checkpoint (Chernihiv Oblast).

According to him, the overall cost of the European Wall project is Hr 4 billion, of which Hr 2 billion will be used to purchase electronic monitoring and control systems, Hr 1.5 billion – for construction work.

Yatsenyuk stressed that the project has two objectives – security guarantee “against the penetration of Russian saboteurs” and the economic aspect (job creation and support of domestic producers).

According to Yatsenyuk, the European Wall project will be fully implemented in four years.

“The Ukrainian-Russian border will be built by 2018,” he added.
