The high price of Russian gas for Ukraine can lead to a switch to other energy sources, which is disadvantageous to Moscow, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said.

"Does a too high price for gas meet Russia’s interests? I’m sure it doesn’t, because the higher it is, the less we will import this gas, and, eventually, we’ll switch to other energy sources," he said live on Inter TV Channel late on Friday.

Hryschenko said that this could happen in the near future.

"If we look strategically, we need to find a solution right now, because then it will be too late. As soon as the mechanism for seeking and creating alternatives is launched, it will impossible to stop it," he said.
