You're reading: Investigators working on Oles Buzyna murder case get DNA test results linking suspects to crime scene

The things found near the car used by the persons who killed publicist Oles Buzyna in Kyiv bears traces of the genetic material of Andriy Medvedko and Denys Polischuk, who are suspected of killing Buzyna, the materials on the DNA test results obtained by Interfax say.

A forensic study conducted by experts from the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Main Department in Kyiv showed that DNA samples taken from Polischuk coincide with the samples found on the gym clothes (jacket and pants) and one of the two medical masks.

The study also shows that the DNA material taken from Medvedko coincides with the material taken from the hat found by the police. His DNA was also found on both medical masks.

Ukrainian Interior Ministry press officer Artem Shevchenko earlier said in his article, which was published in a Ukrainian online publication, that several things that probably belonged to the assassins had been found near Buzyna’s Ford Focus abandoned by them. Among those things were gym wear (two pairs of pants and jackets), hats, and two medical masks.

Buzyna was shot and killed in the yard of an apartment block where he lived in Kyiv on April 16.

Andriy Medvedko and Denys Polischuk, who are accused of murdering Buzyna, were detained on June 18.
