A central office for media representatives that will be open in Kharkiv during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship will be constructed near the Metalist Stadium, with some Hr 2.4 million being allocated from the city budget for this.

The project will be implemented with the partial participation of the city, reads a posting on the Web site of the Ukraine 2012 Information Center with reference to First Deputy Kharkiv Mayor Oleksandr Kryvtsov.

According to the information, the urban development council of Kharkiv approved a proposition to locate the media center on the territory of the Frunze Plant.

According to the information center, the media center will contain workspaces for 350 reporters and 150 photographers, offices for UEFA representatives, a coffee bar and rest rooms.

After the championship, the building will be reequipped into an automobile center with a service center.

"Neither we, nor UEFA have complaints about the building. We realize that the plant will not construct a media center for the championship at its own expense. That is why we have to consider the business interests of the company and further prospects for using this building as an automobile center," Kryvtsov said.

The media center is to be built by December 25, 2011.
