You're reading: Klimkin says Ukrainian-Russian border should be verified by OSCE

Verification of the Ukrainian-Russian border should be an integral part of the work of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

“The issue of control over the Ukrainian-Russian border can be resolved through work with the OSCE and through the provision of access to OSCR monitors to the border. Essentially, the Minsk agreements have three components: de-escalation, verification and rebuilding of Donbas,” the minister said at the 8th Kyiv security council on May 28.

“The OSCE SMM is in charge of monitoring and verification. Border verification should be an integral part of the mission’s work,” Klimkin said.

Klimkin said there should be a comprehensive approach to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, but “it all comes down to Russia’s position.”
