Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will visit France next week, Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said.

The Ukrainian and French foreign ministers have had quite a lot of contacts as of late, including during Normandy Quartet negotiations and multilateral events, Perebyinis said at a news briefing on April 1.

“However, taking into account the existing potential for the development of Ukrainian-French relations, it is time today to hold meetings dealing precisely with bilateral cooperation. Therefore, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin‘s working visit to France is planned in the near future,” he said.

In a commentary for Interfax-Ukraine, Perebyinis said the visit is planned for next week.

The minister’s visit to Paris will serve, on the one hand, as the necessary preparatory stage for top-level visits and on the other will enable the parties to be more specific about their mutual desire to achieve tangible results in their bilateral cooperation, he said.

Visits at the level of the heads of state and government should also take place within the next few months, Perebyinis said.
