You're reading: Kolomoisky says Ukrnafta dispute was publicity stunt

The situation concerning crude oil producer Ukrnafta will be settled judicially, former Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Ihor Kolomoisky has said.

“I have no doubt that we’ll find a common language with our partner and majority stockholder, NJSC Naftogaz. What is more, we’re constantly holding consultations and negotiations. They’re quite productive and constructive,” Kolomoisky said on Channel 1+1 TV on March 26.

According to him, the recent dispute over Ukrnafta was “a publicity stunt letting a small faction of the [parliamentary] coalition boost their ratings, while the large factions saw them going down.”

“This was a not a publicity attack on me; I could be dismissed with a single [presidential] order. It was an attack on Petro Poroshenko Bloc, People’s Front, the prime minister and the president as an attempt to drive a wedge between them. Under such conditions, I’ve taken a wise decision, as it seems, to timely resign,” he said.

In his words, there isn’t any internal conflict of interest between businessman Kolomoisky, and governor Kolomoisky, adding that “there is neither a conflict of interest between myself and the leaders of the two largest parties and two largest parliament factions. Now we’re shifting to a judicial solution to our relations, I hope that it will be settled much faster judicially than politically.”
