Fierce battles continue in order to gain control over the Debaltseve-Artemivsk highway, with no reports arriving to confirm the encirclement of Debaltseve, the headquarters of the military operation in eastern Ukraine said.
“Fighting is on to control the Artemivsk-Debaltseve motorway, where a military confrontation continues,” military operation spokesman Andriy Lysenko told Interfax on Feb. 9 evening.
Lysenko did not confirm reports about Debaltseve’s encirclement by the militants.
Military spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin earlier said that the militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic had closed up the grip on Debaltseve.
