You're reading: Kyiv says Donbas militants continue shelling civilians, Ukrainian troops

From May 25 evening to May 26 morning, Russian-backed militants shelled Ukrainian towns and villages, and the positions of the Ukrainian troops, Kyiv military reported on Facebook on May 26 morning.

In the Donetsk sector, militants were firing on the villages of Opytne, Pisky (near the ruined Donetsk airport), the town of Krasnohorivka, the villages of Novomykhailivka and Vodiane, the town of Avdiyivka and Butivka coalmine, using mortars, artillery systems, machine-guns, grenade launchers, and small arms. At night, illegal armed formations twice shelled the village of Petrovske from multiple rocket launchers.

In the Luhansk region, the village of Syze was attacked by a tank three times. Grenade launchers, mortars, anti-aircraft systems and machine-guns were used to fire on the villages of Zhovte and Staryi Aidar, and the town of Schastia.

In the Artemivsk sector, militants attacked the village of Kirove, shelling from grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms.

In the Mariupol sector, the villages of Shyrokyne and Myrne were under fire from mortars, grenade launchers, and small arms in the period under review.

Drones were spotted three times in the sky near the villages of Shyrokyne and Manhush, the Kyiv military said.
