A terrorist attack on the Feb. 23 peace march in Kharkiv was ordered by Russia, adviser to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Markiyan Lubkivsky has said.

When speaking on Inter TV Channel on Feb. 23 evening, Lubkivsky was asked if he could confirm that Moscow was behind the terrorist attack in Kharkiv, Lubkivsky said: “I can confirm this.”

“Moreover, the flamethrower [seized from the terrorist attack suspects] was obtained by the leader of this gang in Belgorod. The instructions were coming from the Russian Federation,” he added.

Lubkivsky said that four individuals suspected of committing the attack have been arrested, and that the investigation was ongoing.

“We clearly see: the trail leads to Belgorod in Russia, the action was planned for a long time, and its aim was to get people killed,” the SBU chief adviser said.

As reported, a bomb exploded during a peace march near the Sport Palace in Kharkiv on Sunday, killing two people and injuring fifteen, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.
