Director of UEFA Euro 2012 in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky has said that the Euro 2012 European Football Championship has shown that there in no problem of racism in Ukraine as claimed in the Western media.

“Recollect that there were so many different rumors and tragic stories about Ukraine. It was very important that Ukraine be visited by as many fans as possible, who would make sure that these stories do not reflect with reality. Nobody especially prepared the fans, or us, in order to properly host all of our guests,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.

Lubkivsky noted that no conflicts on racial grounds had been reported in Ukraine during Euro 2012 and that no racist chants had been heard at the stadiums.

The tournament director said that after the first foreign guests shared their impressions of their stay in Ukraine, the desire of other foreign fans to visit the country had begun to increase.
