WARSAW (Interfax-Ukraine) - Director of UEFA Euro 2012 in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky has said that Ukrainians who were specially trained for the purpose will perform much operating and transport labor during the Euro 2012 European football championship.

“At present the operating activity is being improved and minor issues are being settled, first, with logistics. Today we’re arranging human resources, distribute them between teams and at key objects. Security officers will work with teams – they are Ukrainians selected today and they will accompany all teams that will stay in Ukraine. Communications officers who will help the teams with settling welfare and other issues will also work at the tournament. We’ve been training the specialists for three years, and I’ve trained myself,” he told journalists on March 8 in Warsaw where a workshop for Euro 2012 teams is held.

Lubkivksy recalled that 5,500 volunteers were selected for Euro 2012, and selection of stewards to work at stadiums is being completed. Some 4,500-5,000 stewards will work at all of the stadia.

“UEFA has experience of hosting the previous tournaments and local organization committee staff knows many things. We’ve been realizing many projects ourselves under a certain control of UEFA,” he said.
