Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Iryna Sekh has submitted her resignation letter, the administration's press service told Interfax-Ukraine

The resignation letter was submitted on June 10 and sent to the presidential administration for approval on the same day, the press service said.

As previously reported, Sekh said she would write a letter of resignation as head of the regional state administration shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of Ukrainian president elect Petro Poroshenko.

After her appointment as Lviv governor in early March, Sekh did not give up her mandate as a people’s deputy of Ukraine within the required period of time, referring to the difficult situation in the country, as she was elected according to the majority system in a constituency, and her place in parliament won’t be taken by anybody, but her leaving could weaken the ruling coalition. Activists repeatedly opposed Sekh’s combining the two posts and arranged rallies demanding her resignation.

Sekh was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in a single-mandate constituency from the Svoboda party in Lviv region and is a people’s deputy of the Svoboda party’s faction. She also heads Svoboda’s Lviv regional organization.
