You're reading: Militants stop persistent shelling of Ukrainian army positions

The Donbas situation remained stable on Sept. 2 evening.

The militants have basically ceased “persistent fire,” the army operation press center wrote on Facebook on Sept. 2 morning. “Yet individual armed provocations were committed along the contact line in the period from 6 p.m. till midnight,” it said.

The militants’ small arms twice attacked Ukrainian strongholds in the Maryinka area near Donetsk at about 7 p.m. and at 10 p.m. A large-caliber machine gun fired at Ukrainian army positions in Krasnohorivka from Staromykhailivka at 9.40 p.m.

“The truce was breached ten times over the past day,” the press center said.

The militants committed one violation of the truce from midnight till 6 a.m. on Sept. 3.

“Ukrainian army positions in Krymske in the Luhansk region were once shelled by a grenade launcher from the side of Sokilnyky at about 1 a.m.,” the report said.
