You're reading: Minsk meeting participants will look for consensus on Donbas elections

The participants in the Contact Group meeting on Ukraine held in Minsk on May agreed that the working group on political issues will continue discussing the bill on elections in Donbas, splitting it into segments.

“The meeting participants did not have enough time to resolve all issues related to the bill. A decision was made to divide it into several segments for convenient debate and continue discussing the parts in which no consensus has been reached yet and then join them into one document,” a source in the group in charge of organizing the meeting told Interfax.

The source added that the discussion of the bill is expected to continue during the meeting of the working sub-group on political issues on June 2.

The participants in the May 22 meeting also agreed to continue discussing the issue of prisoner exchange in the relevant sub-group.

“The sides had a detailed discussion on the issue of the status of exchanged persons, including the people handed over by Kyiv to Donetsk and Luhansk,” the source said.
