The Belarusian Foreign Ministry is ready to hold a meeting of the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on conflict resolution in Ukraine (OSCE, Ukraine, Russia).

“A meeting of the subgroup will be held behind closed doors on Thursday. We are ready to hold it,” spokesman of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told Interfax on Sept. 2.

Meanwhile, he did not comment on the information about a venue and the exact time of the subgroup meeting.

The Contact Group and four subgroups (on security, humanitarian issues, political and socio-economic issues) held meetings in Minsk on Aug. 26. Then the agreement was reached on ceasefire in Donbas from Sept. 1.

On Sept. 1, the Contact Group held a videoconference involving representatives of the joint center of coordination and control and representatives of the self-proclaimed Donbas republics at which the issues of observation of the ceasefire by the parties to the conflict were discussed.

It is expected that the security subgroup will continue the discussion on the accord on the withdrawal of weapons under 100mm in caliber from the contact line on Sept. 3.
