Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that Ukrainian shale gas will be cheaper than gas purchased from Europe and that the cost of shale gas produced in Ukraine will be $120-130 per thousand cubic meters, reports Kommersant. However, ZN.UA reports that the cost of Ukrainian shale gas production could be almost twice as high.

After being stripped of his mandate by the Supreme Administrative Court, people’s deputy Igor Markov has opened up about the behavior of his former fellow deputies, writes Forbes Ukraine. For instance, up to 90 percent of people’s deputies from the Regions Party are unhappy with what is happening in the country, and predicted the imminent collapse of the faction. Markov also said that Regions deputies receive incentives worth $5,000 for their support of legislation, and the same for speaking in the session hall.

Heavy rains in southern Odesa Oblast this past weekend caused severe flooding, Kommersant reports. More than 400 homes in four districts of the region were flooded and two people were killed as a result. President Viktor Yanukovych instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to proceed immediately to help those people and organizations affected, reports Ukrainska Pravda. But the southern region isn’t out of the woods yet. According to weather forecasts, the rain will let up on Monday and Tuesday, but may return on Wednesday.
