NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy expects the Cabinet of Ministers to make a decision on reforming the corporate governance of the state holding on Nov. 25 which would unblock the issue of $300 million by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Ukraine to purchase gas, Naftogaz Director for Business Development Yuriy Vitrenko has said.

“Acts as for the plan should have been approved on November 3. As you can see, the date has already passed. I hope the Cabinet at a meeting on November 25 will adopt most acts,” he said in an interview with the Yevropeiska Pravda edition (the European Truth).

According to him, the delay in the issue of these funds is associated with the delays at some ministries.

“As a result, $300 million from the EBRD for gas purchases got hung up. The matter concerns gas that should have been bought in November via reverse supplies, and now we hope it will be purchased in December. If it is not purchased in December, there are nuances, especially in light of the fact that Russia can turn off gas. And given the fact what is now happening with electricity in Crimea, such actions, unfortunately, are possible,” Vitrenko added.
