You're reading: New trilateral gas deal possible before summer

Ukraine, Russia and the European Union could reach new trilateral gas agreements before the end of May, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maros Sefcovic said.

He said the EU was trying to convince both sides to continue to work in the same positive spirit as in the winter, to work in the same manner and on the same conditions and to continue working together for the next winter, preferably, until the Stockholm arbitration court issues its ruling, Sefcovic said during the European Court of Auditors Energy Security Conference in Brussels.

He said significant progress had been made at these talks both at the political and expert levels and that he was hoping these talks would be wrapped up by the summer.
