You're reading: No date set yet for Russia-EU-Ukraine natural gas talks

BRUSSELS - Russia's European Union envoy said on June 16 that preparations are going on for the next round of Russia-EU-Ukraine ministerial talks on natural gas but that no date had been set for them.

“I expect that, with a great deal of probability, the next ministerial meeting will take place before the end of June, when the second quarter comes to an end, that is the period covered by the agreement on terms for gas exports,” Vladimir Chizhov told Interfax in Brussels.

He said the next ministerial meeting had preliminarily been planned for some time during the last 10 days of June. “Some of the parties have named possible dates, but there is no agreed date yet. The last 10 days are a pretty short period of time for a date to be found that is acceptable to everyone. Expert-level consultations to that effect were held here in Brussels early in June,” Chizhov said.
