You're reading: Obama: Military options not on the table in Ukraine

The U.S. administration is not considering the possibility of settling the crisis in Ukraine through military force, U.S. President Barack Obama has said. "I think I've been very clear that military options are not on the table in Ukraine, because this is not a situation that would be amenable to a clear military solution," he told reporters.

“What we have to do is to create an environment in which irregular
forces disarm, that the seizing of buildings cease, that a national
dialogue by Ukrainians – not by Russians, not by Americans or anybody
else, but by Ukrainians – takes place,” Obama said.

Obama made this statement, while commenting on the results of a
four-way meeting on Ukraine in Geneva involving Russia, the EU, the
United States and Ukraine.
