You're reading: Odesa anti-Maidan figure denies formation of Odesa Republic

The formation of the Odesa Republic is a deception or provocation, a leading figure of the Odesa anti-Maidan, the brother of arrested Anton Davydchenko, Artyom, has told Interfax.

He said representatives of Kulykove Pole, where most of the
anti-Maidan forces gather, did not plan and do not plan any actions for
Wednesday, April 16. “Neither do we advocate separation from Ukraine. We stand for
federalization within Ukraine,” he said.

The activist added that the false information could have been spread
either by hotheads or provocateurs. Presently anti-Maidan leaders are
deciding what to do in this situation and coordinating their further
actions.

Earlier on Wednesday it was reported that the Odesa anti-Maidan had
declared the Odesa region “the Odesa People’s Republic” and called on
city residents to block traffic. The appeal was posted on the
anti-Maidan social networking webpage and their website.
