You're reading: Official: Ukraine never stops working on rapprochement with EU

Ukrainian diplomats, lawmakers, economists and other specialists are working to bring the country closer to the European Union, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Andriy Kliuyev has said.

“Ukraine continues European integration, not in words but in specific daily actions. Our specialists are doing meticulous and very difficult work to prepare the necessary documents,” Kliuyev commented on the information by an EU representative concerning the completion of editing and legal harmonization of the part of the Association Agreement dealing with the establishment of the free trade area between Ukraine – the European Union.

He expressed the belief that this year one can expect more good news about the cooperation and integration between Ukraine and the EU, the National Security and Defense Council’s press service reported.

Kliuyev also noted that the European integration for Ukraine is first of all a reform to achieve new quality standards, which involves modernization of the economy, increasing investment opportunities, and development of competitive domestic production, creating jobs, decent working conditions and payment of fair wages, and bringing Ukrainian producers to the EU markets, etc.

“But we need to work very hard to implement all of our plans,” the NSDC secretary said.
