HORLIVKA - The deputy head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM), Alexander Hug, has promised to try and resolve the situation in hotspots in Luhansk Oblast.

Hug told journalists on July 5 that he was going to meet with the group in Luhansk and that there are two specific places where the situation is similar to Shyrokyne’s. These are two hotspots where shooting continues, and the SMM will be monitoring the situation and try to find ways to resolve problems in these places, Hug said.

He reassured that the OSCE will try to establish peace in these areas.

Hug recalled the OSCE SMM helped many times ensure ceasefire on the contact line in Donbas, in particular in Shyrokyne and also in Horlivka where it enabled the effort to restore water supply. The SMM monitors are doing this wherever they work and wherever the situation requires, Hug said.
